Humor In Chess by Dewain Barber and Ralph E. Bowman is a collection of funny chess anecdotes published at the end of 2019. The book is a 2020 Chess Journalists Award Winner in the category of Self-Published Book and it is available for purchase on Amazon.com (Humor In Chess: Barber, Dewain, Bowman, Ralph E.: 9781675183168: Amazon.com: Books).

This anthology is full of laughter, fun, and chess. Story authors range from the little known President of the Chess Journalists of America, Joshua Anderson, to the well-known Chief of Communications for US Chess, Dan Lucas. Chess parents and chess players of all ages will be able to relate to these brief romps to the lighter side of the game. Many of the stories feature children, but there are also some about strong players, like Grandmaster and U.S. Champion Lev Alburt and World Champion Bobby Fischer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who could use another chuckle in their day. Plus, the proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Denker and related scholarships.

The editors are currently looking for a new round of funny chess anecdotes. Please submit your stories if you would like to be part of the sequel!
